The screen hits of 2023 so far are Barbie, Oppenheimer and The Last of Us. The first takes place in a fairy-tale world where half of human beings (the men) are worthless. The second depicts the invention of a device to destroy the world. (Keep your eyes peeled for a coming All Predictions Wrong on the relationship of Oppenheimer to the Great Filter concept.) The third depicts doomsday.
