Autumn is my favorite season also. October football in a non-domed stadium is the best!

“ Each year one lives two days that are not autumn for each one day that is.”

Wouldn’t that be three days?

Here in NoVa I’ve had the windows open and AC off since mid-August when the early autumnal weather arrived.

When I lived in Colorado I hated autumn because I knew what was coming. Snow snow and more snow. I live in the south now and Autumn is wonderful because it marks the end of summer and six months of moderate weather. Such a joy to go to a high school football game in October wearing a t-shirt and shorts.

I wonder if that was his idea of a prank?

I did go to Wikipedia, as I best know the name Edward Elgar as an academic publishing house. Turns out Edward Elgar publishing is named after its founder, who is not related to the composer.

My Autumn tradition is to plant daffodil bulbs, aka known as 'Squirrel Thanksgiving", as they dig up half the bulbs to eat....A box of 150 bulbs arrived Thursday; I'm just surprised the squirrels haven't attempted to storm the house to liberate them...

I love this piece each autumn. Thanks for re-posting. “Though they detach us from nature, artificial lightning…” believe you meant “lighting”

I agree with everything you said about autumn, even ‘spring is wonderful but autumn is better’. Best time of the year. Need to maximize the outdoor time

Here in the Atlanta metroplex, autumn is delightful. Looking forward to closing out the summer tomorrow morning with a hiking fellowship from our church.

The Sandhill Cranes just flew over the house, striving to catch up with the Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds headed south annually in mid-September. Time to stack more firewood....

Social Summer is a good term for the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day, which many people think defines summer. Fall/Autumn is also my favorite season. Generally, it's not too hot or too cold (May not apply to the F-ing South).

But you obviously got married an hour or two after college graduation. Halloween is totally for adults and has been for years. It has supplanted NYE as the biggest singles event out there. You have permission to bring your inner freak/kink out in the open and then go back into hiding saying it was just a costume!

Once a year my family attends the Ohio Renaissance Festival. ORF is just outside Waynesville (east of Dayton). It draws heavy crowds. I've tried to get my wife to go on the "romance weekend", where we can renew our vows; THWOCK! 🙄 Her eyeroll was so loud it scared the squirrels away from the bird feeders. BUT ORF is fun. My sons and I wear kilts, but not much more costuming that that.

The article about Land of Hope and Glory being cancelled in 2023 appears to be satirical. Though the BBC in 2020 initially planned to not have the lyrics sung before reversing course after backlash to the decision.
